Daina Shukys toward the end of the set. Exuding sensuality, the dynamic Ms. Shukys, finger cymbals aloft, meshed beautifully with the ever-expanding spirals of musical agitation… the talent and sincerity of Ms. Shukys and the musicians. Again, Steig has dared to be different, to explore,to probe.

Exotic electric flute intro to an arrangement of Francis Poulenc (En Diligence) played on synthesizer by Daina Shukis (on the cover in ethnic attire) with a variety of sounds as Jeremy Steig creates an atmosphere to excite your imagination.

If you like LIVE performances from the hot spots of New York City during the new wave pop culture with a jazz/rock/funk/fusion groove, you will enjoy these vintage audio and video recordings from “CBGB’s”, Soundscape, 8BC, the Bottom Line, Lismar Lounge, and others to come. Daina Shukis fronts a variety of bands with many of the same players all of whom are masters in their field. Dancing has always been a big part of Daina’s act incorporating her love of middle eastern and African styles with new wave pop art attire a La Carnival. Her vision with day-glo lightly enhances the atmosphere of exotic sensuality. While Daina is dancing this combination of exceptionally talented musicians is exhilarating. Daina composes most of her own material also with co-author Jeremy Steig. She studied piano at Skidmore College with Professor Housman, an Impressionist specialist while accompanying modern dance classes at the college and later studied with Julia Ryauskas in New Jersey. Having danced professionally in middle eastern night clubs for many years hearing the best musician from the middle east she has incorporated a middle eastern flare in some of her writing. We hope you enjoy this creative mix of talented artists. (from pagelous.com)
